Vera Stokes, 55, of O'Neil Road, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Plattsburgh on April 13, 1961, the daughter of James and Joan (Atwood) Sessums.
Vera was a great mother, aunt, nana and a great friend to many who crossed her path in life. She would take anyone in who needed help or a place to stay at a moment's notice.
Survivors include two sons, Travis Stokes and Desiree of West Chazy and Levi Stokes of West Chazy; brother James Sessums of Plattsburgh; Diana Thomas of Altona whom Vera thought of her as a sister and Gary Trombley of Altona, a longtime friend. She also leaves behind two beautiful granddaughters, Liddia and Maddison Stokes of Plattsburgh, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Vera was predeceased by her parents, James and Joan Sessums, a cousin, Ed Clauson and a good friend, Larry Moser. They will be waiting for Vera at Heaven's Gate. She will be deeply missed.
No calling hours will be held. A graveside service will be held in the spring at a time to be announced in the West Chazy Rural Cemetery.
