Theresa's Story

Theresa Ann Drake, 65, of Lozier Place, Plattsburgh, passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, June 6th, after a 3-year battle with cancer.
She graduated from Plattsburgh State University in 1974 and went on to receive a Masters in Education from Plattsburgh State.
Theresa was a well liked substitute teacher in the Plattsburgh City School District for over 30 years. She was an animal lover, especially cats. She volunteered and was a board member for the Adirondack Humane Society for over ten years. She was a track and field official, which she loved, for many years. She loved spending time on Long Island, visiting her parents, brothers, nieces and nephews. She loved supporting her children, going to all their sporting events, when they were still in school.
Her surviving family is her son Kenneth, daughter Barbara, her pet Max, and best friend Alan, all of Plattsburgh; her parents, Joseph and Barbara Bachek of East Islip; brother Paul and wife Nancy of Bayport; brother Tom and wife Amy of Blue Point; sister Barbara Black and her husband Ken of Arizona; brother Ken and wife Donna of North Carolina. She is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews. She is also survived by six grandnieces and nephews.
The Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh worked with Albrecht, Bruno, & O'Shea Funeral Home in East Islip, Long Island, with the arrangement.
Mass Celebration at St. Mary's in East Islip, Long Island. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Bayshore, Long Island.
Theresa's family would like to thank Dr. Jan Duus and his staff of the FitzPatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh; the 5th floor nurses at the UVM Medical Center/CVPH; and finally, Hospice Care of the North Country for their loving care in Theresa's final weeks.
