Susan Ann (Dewyea) Bowen, 70, of Mineville, passed away June 11, 2017, at home in the arms of her loving family. Born June 15, 1946, in Tupper Lake, N.Y., she is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Mayfred Dewyea and her sister, Judith (Dewyea) Murphy.
Susan was a wonderful mother and wife, who loved her family and her animals, especially her sweet companion, Ting. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting and creating beautiful things. She could always be found winning at the basket raffles, or anxiously awaiting blackberry season. Susan was so outgoing and generous with her love that she made every person she met feel special. She was a spitfire of a woman who was the main drive of her family. She always knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid to say it. She will be wonderfully remembered by all who knew her.
Susan is survived by her loving husband, Everett Bowen; her children, Jenny and Kenny Hillman, John and Kim Callahan, Steven Bowen, Melaney Bowen and Katey (Bowen) Lanphear; her siblings, Robert Dewyea, Marilyn Monroe, Dawn Fenton, Carol Cogswell, James Dewyea, Jill Dewyea, Wendy Doherty and Diane Bowman; and 11 grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, at the Harland Funeral Home, 4279 Main St., Port Henry. Friends and family will gather for a light dinner at the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Mineville from 7 to 9 p.m.
