Sandra Lee Barlow, 65, of State Route 22, Plattsburgh, returned to her heavenly home, Wednesday, May 24, 2017, while under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God gave her comfort and peace.
Sandy was born in Plattsburgh, May 11, 1952, to the late Desmond and Gracelyn (Whyman) Kayea. As an infant the family moved to Wassaic, N.Y., where she grew up; graduating from Webutuck Central School in 1970. Sandy then attended Austin Beauty School in Albany and for a time had her own beauty shop until allergies forced her to find other work. Over the years, Sandy worked for Wassaic Developmental Center, Dutchess County ARC, Barlows Ayrshires and Hart Apple Farm. Her greatest job was that of Mom.
Sandy married the love of her life, Jesse Barlow, May 15, 1971, in Amenia, N.Y. Together they raised four children, Rebecca (Dean) Reed, Jason Barlow, Adrienne Smith and Meredith (Michael) McCarthy. Along with her husband and children, she is survived by a sister, Cheryl (Bob) Bergfels; brother, Desmond (Bridgette) Kayea; and 11 grandchildren, Zachary, Catelyn, Aubrie, Caleb, Rylee, Paige, Teagan, Leonard, Frederick, Jesse, and Emily; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel.
