Text size

Rosemarie Miller, 77, of Woods Falls Road, Mooers Forks, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the UVM Health Network - CVPH, Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Oberwiesenthal, Germany, on Dec. 26, 1939, the daughter of the late Reinhold and Maria (Wolf) Reinwarth.
Rosemarie grew up in a ski resort town in the Ore Mountains on the border of the Czech Republic. She told stories of being forced to stand and cheer as Hitler paraded by when he vacationed in the area, shortly before her family fled what became East Germany. Later, in her teens, Rosemarie became a Junior Olympian in Alpine Skiing. She met and fell in love with Robert J. Miller, U.S. Army Soldier; they married on Oct. 3, 1958, in West Germany. They moved to Robert's hometown in Illinois in 1959 where they lived for over 38 years, raising their four children. During this time, Rosemarie worked as a seamstress for Kroeler Furniture then worked 33 years as a medical assistant at Riverside Medical Center, retiring in 1996. In 1997 they moved to Mooers Forks to help raise their granddaughter, Myranda. Sadly, Robert died suddenly in 1998 after 40 years of marriage to this wonderful woman. While in New York, she worked for Burton Snowboarding for several years. For the last seven years, she was employed at IFC Fulfillment in Champlain where she will be dearly missed.
Throughout her life, Rosemarie enjoyed traveling the world to visit her family. She had the most generous heart, never forgetting a birthday or anniversary. Holidays were always special because of her spirit and traditional ways of celebrating; she enchanted everyone with her carefully chosen gifts. Daughter-in-law Lola's entire family adopted Rosemarie as part of their own for the better part of her life, affectionately calling her "Mom" Miller. Yvonne Miller referred to her as her favorite sister-in-law. She enjoyed socializing while playing Bingo, attending potluck dinners at Mooers Senior Housing and participating in Mooers Good Fellowship events.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Cornelia (Connie) Guyor and her husband Michael from Clyde, N.C., Keith Miller and his wife Susan from Cheriton, Va., William Miller from Round Lake Park, Ill., Timothy Miller and his wife Lola from Mooers Forks, N.Y., her brother and sister-in-law James and Yvonne Miller from St. Anne, Ill. She is also survived by her loving siblings from Germany, Emilie (Milly) Maass who just turned 90 in January, Richard Reinwarth and his wife Doris, and Manfred (Mansi) Reinwarth and his wife Waltraud. Her niece Christine Strasdat and her husband Roland traveled here to represent the German side of her family.
Her treasured grandchildren include Brittania (Britt) Bintz and her husband Wesley from Waynesville, N.C., Joshua Miller and his daughter Saphyre from Battle Creek, Mich., Adam Guyor and his wife Toni and their children Sleyton, Kyrian and Cattie from Clyde, N.C., Skyler and her husband Gerald and their daughter Jade from Momence, Ill., Curt and Lauren Heath from Cheriton, Va., Myranda Miller from Mooers Forks and her cherished furred granddogs, Molly, Tori and many others. She was also loved by her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Rosemarie was predeceased by her brothers, Eduard Reinwarth, Reinhold Reinwarth, Siegfried Reinwarth, Wolfgang Reinwarth, brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Brenda Miller, and granddaughter Lindsey Waters.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers.
