Robert B. Church, 83, of Lakeshore Rd., Chazy, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at his home.
He was born in Chazy on May 16, 1933, the son of Walter H. and Beatrice (Ryan) Church.
Robert graduated from Chazy Central Rural School, attended The University of Vermont and was a US Army Veteran. Robert owned and operated Church Oil, Church Warehousing, The Sugar House, and the Ellenburg Depot NAPA Auto Parts. He also worked for the NYS Department of Labor. In addition to his occupations, Robert had a strong love of politics which lead him to serve Senator Ronald B. Stafford as an aide, culminating in his appointment as Clinton County Chairman of the Conservative Party. During Robert's free time, he enjoyed riding his bike, paddling his canoe, bird watching, and picking the North Country for antiques.
Survivors include his son, Thomas Church and his wife Elizabeth of Cadyville; his daughter, Kathleen Fessette and her husband Allen of Morrisonville; grandchildren, Ryan, Kent and Devin Fessette, Hunter and John Casey Church; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was predeceased by five brothers, John Church, Thomas Church, Joseph Church, Walter Church, and Charles Church; and two sisters, Joan Church and Susan Judkins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Burial will be at a later date in the spring.
