Richard R. (Dick) Jennett, 90, of River Street Heights, Morrisonville, died June 4, 2017, at UVM Health Network, CVPH, Skilled Nursing Facility.
He was born, March 28, 1927, in Sciota, N.Y., to Parson and Lucille Jennett.
Dick joined the U.S. Navy and completed flight training at Pensacola Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla. He graduated Plattsburgh State Teachers' College in 1951 and started a teaching career in North Creek, N.Y., where he met his wife of 63 years, Ann Loveland. They were married on June 23, 1953. They moved to Hicksville, Long Island, N.Y., where Dick held several school administration positions including Principal of Lee Avenue School and Principal of Fork Lane Elementary School. Mutually adored by students and staff, Dick retired in June 1985, and since then has enjoyed hunting and fishing, bowling, taking trips to Sebastian, FL, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren, cultivating their love of Lake Champlain at the family's camp at Point Au Fer.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Jennett; sons, Dr. Richard B. Jennett (Lana) and Robert Jennett (Diane); grandchildren, Alice Jennett, Lana "Ann" Spinneweber (Brian), Sarah Jennett, Christy Jackson (Todd); great-grandchild, Leo Spinneweber; siblings, Donald Jennett and Connie Hotaling.
His grandson, Randy Jennett, and brother, Douglas Jennett predeceased him.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday, June 8, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel. Private burial will be in the Garnet Lake Cemetery, Johnsburgh, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Richard R. Jennett may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh.
