Raymond H. Rock Sr., 91, of State Route 22B, Morrisonville, died Friday, March 17, 2017, at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh, with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Morrisonville, Nov. 1, 1925, the son of Howard and Alice (Burnell) Rock. Raymond grew up in the North Country and attended Plattsburgh High School. He entered in active duty with the U.S. Navy, Jan. 14, 1944. He served proudly until his honorable discharge, May 29, 1946.
He married the former Nancy H. Garde on Sept. 17, 1950, in Plattsburgh.
Ray worked as a foreman for Morrisonville construction.
Ray served for 11 years with the Morrisonville Fire Dept. He also volunteered with Boy Scout Troop 66 and the Schuyler Falls Youth Commission.
He enjoyed spending time at his camp in Gabriels, and also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Left to cherish the memory of Ray are, his loving wife of 66 years, Nancy H. Rock of Morrisonville; children, Raymond Rock Jr. and wife Susan of Webster, Timothy Rock and wife Roxanne of Harkness, and Beth and husband Scott Hamilton of Peru; special nephew, James "Chip" St. Dennis and wife Beverly of Schuyler Falls; grandchildren, Nathan Rock; Elisha and Andrea Rock-Palladino; Chelsea and Jason Rock-Phelps; Erica Rock and Monyette Clark; James Rock; Matthew and Deanna Hamilton; Nicholas Hamilton; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Theresa LeMieux, Marion St. Dennis; Kermit Rock, and Rudy Rock.
At Raymond's request there will be no public calling hours or services. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in the Harkness Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be in the spring at the convenience of the family.
