Mrs. Monique G. Sarnow, 87, of Turner Court, Plattsburgh, N.Y., passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the UVMC Health Network-CVPH Medical Center with family by her side. She was born in LeMans, France, on Nov. 23, 1929, the daughter of Rene and Eugenie (Cornet) Favier. Monique survived the Normandy invasion and the atrocities of World War II. She worked with her husband, Dr. Kenneth Sarnow, within his medical practice. Monique had volunteered at CVPH Medical Center for over 30 years. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, needle point, crossword puzzles and sudoku. Monique also enjoyed traveling, fine wine and cheese and above all, spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Dr. Kenneth Sarnow; her sisters, Ermine and Jacqueline.
Monique is survived by her children, Dr. Marc Sarnow and his wife Dr. Susan Rech and their children, Kyle, Nathaniel and Lily of Plattsburgh, Chef Eric Sarnow and his wife Claudia and their son, Evan of Spring Mills, Pa., Martine Davis and her husband David and their children, Kian and Ariah of Clifton Park, N.Y.; her sister, Claudine Favier Hontoir of LeMans, France; many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to FitzPatrick Cancer Center or Doctors Without Borders.
Monique's family would like to acknowledge the staff of CVPH ICU, Progressive Care R-4 and the physicians who gave excellent care to her.
