On June 2, 2017, Maude M. Kennedy, age 87, passed away peacefully at the UVM Health Network, CVPH, with her loving family by her side.
Maude grew up in a large family of eleven sisters and three brothers in AuSable Forks. On July 29, 1950, Maude and John Kennedy were married, enjoying nearly 67 years together.
Maude worked in the Peru Central School cafeteria for several years but she was most proud of raising her sons, John and Bruce. She enjoyed many years of bowling with the 'girls' and came home weekly sometimes proud and sometimes not so proud of her scores. She also loved working in her flower beds and watching the many birds that visited her feeders. She was an avid Yankees fan and surprised many with her knowledge of the team.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Family meant everything to her.
Left to cherish the memory of Maude are, her husband, John; sons, John Kennedy of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., and Bruce Kennedy (Joanne) of Peru; four grandchildren, Carrie Montefusco (Robert), Kristi Bouyea (Toby), Jenny Van Winkle (Brian), and Casey and Michelle Kennedy; three great-grandchildren, Marisa Montefusco, Addison Montefusco and Brook Van Winkle; close family friend, Susan Gilman; five sisters, Laverna Whisher, Mary Whitney, Anne Cross, Roberta Furnia, and Carol Wisher; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her mother and father, Homer and Madeline (Rhino) Wright; and eight siblings.
