Mary Lou Jones, 74, of the Jones Road, Chateaugay died unexpectedly, Thursday, March 9, 2017, at The Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, N.Y.
She was born in Chateaugay on Dec. 15, 1942, daughter of William and Alice (Bentley) Stevenson. She graduated from Chateaugay Central School in 1962. On Jan. 26, 1963, she married William "Bill" Jones and he predeceased her on June 26, 2013.
Mary worked for many years as a home health aide and later for the United Cerebral Palsy. Working with her clients bought her much joy. Mary enjoyed many years of bowling. Throughout the years and up until her death, Mary loved playing bingo with her friends Donna, Linda, Carol and Beverly. Mary enjoyed her grandchildren's school events and could often be seen at their soccer and basketball games. She was very proud of them. She and Bill had many friends in Earlville. They enjoyed going out to eat regularly every weekend.
She is survived by three sons, Tom (Harold) Jones of Chateaugay, Steve (Pat) Jones of Malone and Mike (Kristine) Jones of Chateaugay; one grandson, Tyler and one granddaughter, Jenny.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her half-brother, Bob Sprague, brothers Jack and Bill Stevenson, a sister, Helen Anderson and a sister-in-law, Pat Stevenson.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 13, at the Chateaugay Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to St. Patrick's Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
