Marguerite (Peg)'s Story

Marguerite (Peg) Defayette, 73, of Route 3, Saranac, N.Y., passed away Sunday, October 8, at Meadowbrook Health Care in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Aug. 20, 1944, the daughter of Kermit and Mabel (Amell) Fitzgerald.
Peg graduated from Ausable High School in 1962, and OLVA Secretarial School in June, 1963. She worked at Saranac Central School for 23 years as a bus driver, retiring in 1998. She also owned and operated Peg's Antiques for over 35 years.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Robert (Bob) Defayette; two children, a son Robert (Robbie) Defayette of Meridian, Idaho; daughter Renee and son-in-law Lawrence (Larry) Pellerin of Saranac, N.Y; two granddaughters, Carissa and Shawna Pellerin; brother, Joseph Fitzgerald and sister-in-law Virginia of Ausable Forks, N.Y.; brother Michael Fitzgerald and sister-in-law Faye of St. Augustine, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Farrell of Saranac, N.Y.; Ann Defayette of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; Marion King of Oldsmar, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her infant daughter, Sheri Lyn; sister Sadie and brother-in-law Timothy Ahern; brother-in-law Philip Defayette; brother-in-law Clayton Defayette; sister and brother-in-law Eleanor and Clifford Ward; brother-in-law Howard King.
A visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, at Church of the Assumption and following is a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. After a graveside service, friends and relatives are invited to gather at the American Legion Post 1619 in Redford, N.Y.
Donations may be made to Third Age Adult Day Center at Suny Plattsburgh, 101 Broad St., Suite 320, Sibley Hall, Plattsburgh, N.Y.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thwaits-Zaumetzer Funeral Home in Ausable Forks, N.Y.
