Lorette's Story

Text size

Lorette T. Leduc, 92, of Route 3, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 surrounded by her loving family and devoted caregiver Donna Gomez.
She was born in Huntingdon, Quebec on Nov. 21, 1924, the daughter of Nephtalie and Marie Louise (Boucher) Taillefer. As one of the eldest of 10 children, Lorette was brought up working on her family's farm and helped raise her younger siblings.
Lorette married Arthur Leduc on July 19, 1943 in Huntingdon, Quebec. After starting a family they made a home in Cadyville in 1953 where they raised their eight children. They were married 57 years before Arthur's passing on August 20, 2000.
As a devout Catholic, Lorette was a member of the Altar Rosary Society of St. James Parish in Cadyville. At the holidays, the Leduc home was filled with so many loved ones, they had to eat their dinner in shifts, but nobody seemed to mind. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, gardening, canning and was a wonderful seamstress for many in the area.
Lorette spent her final few years living in the comforting home of Donna and Darryl Gomez. Her family will be forever grateful for the loving care they provided her; they treated her as though she was their own mother.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her six children, Raymond (Barbara) Leduc of Saranac, Gilles (Claudette) Leduc of Cadyville, Paul (Tina) Leduc of Dannemora, Joanne (Michael) Castonguay of Zephyrhills, Fla., Sylvia (Gary) Duquette of Cadyville, and Annette (Kelly) LaBombard of Morrisonville; two brothers, Andre (Suzanne) Taillefer and Lawrence (Dorothy) Taillefer, both of Huntingdon, Quebec; two sisters, Fernande Caron of St. Martine, Quebec, and Denise Cardinal of Huntingdon, Quebec; 14 grandchildren, Raymond Leduc Jr., Scott Leduc, Jeannine Yanulavich, Nicole Goddeau, Christine Benware, Roxanne Irvin, Michelle Sears, Jessica Joubert, Justina Latulipe, Neil Duquette, Candace and Sarah Leduc, and Monique and Nicholas LaBombard; 23 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Lorette was predeceased by her parents; her husband; daughters, Monica and Suzanne; son-in-law, Jeff Sears; great-grandson, Ryan Sears; three sisters, Simone, Lucille, and Laura; and two brothers, Armand and Edmund.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. in St. James Church in Cadyville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Donations in Lorette's memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
