Katherine A. "Tootie"'s Story
Katherine "Tootie" Welsh, 89, of Plattsburgh, passed away peacefully July 5th, 2017.
Tootie was born in AuSable Forks, N.Y. to the late Dr. Joeseph W. Scott and Genevieve Scott, on May 28, 1928. She graduated from AuSable Forks High School and went on to attend Green Mountain College in Vermont.
"Live, Laugh, Love" was a quote Tootie lived by! Growing up on the shores of Silver Lake and the Town of AuSable, she met her lifelong love, the late Harry K. Welsh Sr. Harry and Tootie shared the love of music, family and friends, creating many joyous memories together. Living in Westport, Conn. for 25 years, they then returned to the North Country in 1978.
Tootie volunteered at Champlain Valley Physicians hospital for many years, and she spent her summers on Silver Lake with friends & family. She has been residing at Pine Harbor for the past 16 months & was always ready to "put on her coat" & go for an adventure!
She is now with her soul mate, who has been waiting for her for many years!
Tootie leaves behind her loving family, Susan S. Welsh of Norwich, Vt., Harry K. Welsh Jr. of Wesport Conn., David S. Welsh of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Christopher J. Welsh and his wife Kathy of Vestal, N.Y., Sally A. Welsh of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and Marilee Sundius and her husband Steven of Meredith, N.H. She is also survived by many grandchildren, Max, Jesse, Casey, Kyle, Dylan, Evan, Travis, Brittany, Chelsea, Austin, Griffin, Keefer, Sarah, and Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Wesley and Chase.
Tootie was predeceased by her brother and sister, Rebbie (Loretta) Stover and Robert Joseph Scott.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 in St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Burial will follow in Holy Name Cemetery in Ausable Forks.
