Joan Elizabeth (Jarvis) Lucia of Altona died Sunday, May 28, 2017, peacefully with her family by her side. She was born March 13, 1947, to Helen and Floyd Jarvis, who passed before her.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of fifty years, Clarence, who cared for her unselfishly through her long courageous battle, and also her daughter, Cari and Dean of Chazy, and son, Cory and Teri of Altona. She leaves behind one grandson, Tyler, and three step grandchildren, Bryanna, Ethan and Madison; two sisters, Jean Bruce of Vermont, Jan Gillett of Altona; one brother, Ronnie and Elsie Jarvis of Altona; and several nieces and nephews. Also, her sisters-in-law, Shirley and Loyal McDonald of Mooers, Doris Nephew of West Chazy, Barbara Miller of Ellenburg, and Hildred King of Chazy Lake.
She retired from Clinton County Social Services where she worked as a Medicaid Examiner for many years. Joan loved to garden, sew, crochet and most of all collect buttons. She was a loving caring wife, mother, grandmother and aunt who would go above and beyond for her family.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday in Holy Angels Church in Altona.
