Text size

Helen L. Eck, 98, a longtime resident of Plattsburgh, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at the Franklin Co. Rehab Center.
She was born in Plattsburgh on June 20, 1919, daughter of Edmund and Amelia (Suckstorff) Parker. At fifteen, Helen began work at Pal Blade Co. where she met, and later married, Robert Eck on June 22, 1943. Helen retired from Plattsburgh Paint and Glass Co. In her later years, Helen was a merchandizer for American Greeting Cards.
Helen was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Her mantra throughout life was always, "Do the best you can with what you've got!" We believe she always did. Helen volunteered her time to many causes, most notably the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) where she received many honors while accumulating over 9700 lifetime service hours. She was very proud of her service. She was also a formidable contract bridge player.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, husband, seven siblings and their spouses, and two nieces. Her survivors include son Robert Eck Jr. and wife, Robinn; daughter Louise Tallman and husband, Richard; grandsons Lenny Fronhofer V and companion, Charlene and Mark Fronhofer and wife, Kathy; granddaughter Julie Raulerson and husband, Doug; great-grandchildren Cayla, Bethany, Lenny VI, Matthew, and Katie; as well as nephews Glenn and John, nieces Janice and Suzy, and their families.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday, August 11, 2017, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home.
A memorial service will follow at noon in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
