Harrietta M. Shambo, 94, passed away peacefully Aug. 18, 2017, at Mount Greylock Nursing Home in Pittsfield, Mass. Harrietta was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Feb 2, 1923, the daughter of Harry and Edith Merrihew. Harrietta graduated from St. John's Academy in Plattsburgh. She was employed at Woolworths for many years. She was a devoted church member. She loved lending a hand to anyone. Harrietta cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Harrietta was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Edith Merrihew, her husband, Bernard D. Shambo, her brother, Harry Merrihew, and her sister, Marjorie Pelkey. She is survived by her stepson and daughter-in-law, Bernie and Diane (Wright) Shambo of Pittsfield, Mass.; a grandson, Stephen and his wife Kristen Shambo of Grafton, Mass.; a granddaughter, Meagan and her husband David St. Peter of Stockbridge,
Mass.; four great-grandchildren, Jake, Christopher, and Mason 5t. Peter and Cameron Shambo; a niece and her husband, Debbie and Thomas Guay of Morrisonville; a niece in-law, Evelyn Pelkey of Florida; and the extended family of Jim and Rosa Wright of Ft. Edward.
Friends may call from 11 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22, at the Thwaits-Zaumetzer Funeral Home with a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in the Holy Name Cemetery.
