George M. Miller, 87, of Giddings Road, Peru, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Meadowbrook Healthcare, Plattsburgh, with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Chicago, Dec. 25, 1929, the son of George and Anna (Hedenberg) Miller.
George was in the U.S. Navy, worked in Hong Kong building shipping docks, and worked as an engineer on major hydropower projects such as the Tehachapi tunnels in California and the Blenheim-Gilboa Hydroelectric Power Station in the Catskill Mountains of New York. He also was the city engineer for Plattsburgh, New York, for many years. He enjoyed fishing, sailing, hiking, flying and canoeing in his free time.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 55 years, Marianne (Wilson) Miller; daughters, Heidi Ann Schuller (husband, Andy Schuller), Heather Grace Coyle; sister, Ruth Litscher; granddaughters, Lamorna Grace Miller Coyle, Violet Faith Miller Coyle, Meagan Miller and grandson, Steven Miller; and one great-grandson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his son, Hans Miller; sister-in-law, Diane Dew; and brother-in-law, Alvin Wilson.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 26, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, at the Peru Community Church, 13 Elm Street, Peru, with the Rev. Peggi J. Eller presiding. Burial will be in the Port Kent Cemetery.
