Florence L. Meixler-Helm, 96, of Stickney Bridge Road, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017, at the home of her daughter.
She was born in Thompsonville, Wis., on Jan. 5, 1921, the daughter of James and Cora (Lower) Morris.
Florence was a World War II Women's Marine Corps Veteran serving from 1944 to 1946.
She married William Meixler in 1945 in Allentown, Pa. William passed away in 1981. She later married her second husband, Harold Helm, in Brooksville, Fla., in 1992. Harold passed away in 2008.
Florence was a member of the AuSable Forks Methodist Church and a former member of the Turnpike Wesleyan Church and the Best Years Fellowship at the Wesleyan Church.
She was employed as a bookkeeper at Garrand's Auto Sales in Plattsburgh for over 15 years, retiring in 1986.
Survivors include one son, Paul Meixler of Sommerville, Mass.; one daughter, Priscilla and Marvin Otis of Jay, N.Y.; one daughter-in-law, Laurel Meixler of Stafford, Va.; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by one son, David Meixler, one brother, Russell Morris and two sisters, Esther Longnecker and Hazel Frank.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with burial taking place in Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
