Eugene's Story

Text size

Eugene L. "Gino" Williams, age 84, formerly of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the Washington Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, surrounded by his loving family.
Gino was born on March 5, 1933, in Paterson, N.J., the son of the late Arthur Williams and Anna Murano Williams.
Although he had many jobs during his life, Gino was most proud of his long-time work as a Drug & Alcohol Counselor at Mount McGregor Correctional Facility in Wilton, N.Y.
Gino inspired everyone he met with his kind and loving personality. When he wasn't helping others, he enjoyed doing what he loved which was traveling, painting and music, as well as spending time on Chateaugay Lake in the Adirondacks.
His remarkable artistic talent is forever present in his many beautiful paintings. His life, unique gifts, wordless love, humility, integrity, and hard work continue to inspire those who knew him and all who met him. His true devotion remains evident in how he raised his children and how much he loved his grandchildren. Gino was loved by many, and he will be deeply missed.
Gino is survived by his beloved wife, Judy DeLong, with whom he shared a fun filled life; daughters, Christina Williams and Dara Lanier (Jason); son, Jondavid DeLong (Laura); sisters, Marlene Mercaldi and Roseanne Belford; brothers-in-law, John Sampica, Bill Sampica (Judy), and Roland Tatro; sisters-in-law, Ann Perry (Bradley) and Cindy Sampica; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Arthur "Sonny" Williams, and several siblings-in law.
While there will be no calling hours or service, you are welcome to express your condolences by visiting Gino's obituary online at www.compassionatefuneralcare.com.
