Elizabeth A. ("Betty") Francois, 90, of Bend, Ore. died peacefully on June 21, 2017. She was born on May 20, 1927 in Mineville, N.Y., the daughter of Francis and Rhoda (Barnard) Myers, of Witherbee, N.Y.
She attended St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. and was married to Edward J. Francois on Sept. 30, 1950. Edward died in 1992. She raised her family in the Albany area, where she also taught. After retirement, she moved to Elizabethtown, N.Y. with her husband and resided there until moving to Oregon with her son and daughter-in-law in 2015.
Betty was very active in the Elizabethtown community, particularly with the Garden Club, the United Church of Christ, and through town beautification efforts. She was also a constant and beloved presence at the Myers family camp on Lincoln Pond.
She is survived by a sister, Janet Babich of Lake Worth, Fla.; a son, Thomas and his wife Ann of Bend, Ore.; four granddaughters, Danielle Fournier of Los Angeles, Calif., Emily Francois of Burlington, Vt., Jessica Francois of Lee Vining, Calif., and Sylvie Francois of Brooklyn, N.Y. A son, Gary Francois, passed away in 2014.
A graveside ceremony will be held at Union Cemetery in Moriah, N.Y. at the convenience of the family.
