Daniel Louis Stone, age 81, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017. A private service will be held for the immediate family on July 22, 2017, in Chazy, N.Y.
Mr. Stone was a native and resident of Chazy, N.Y., but for the past nine years made his home in Milledgeville, Ga. Dan traveled the United States extensively as a Commercial Construction Manager, and was one of the best carpenters in the building trades. His thirst for experiencing new things took him to many places, and he delighted in sharing the stories of those journeys. He will be remembered as someone who gave much of himself, and as one who always helped those who were less fortunate. He took pride in his family and was devoted to his grandchildren. Dan had a sense of humor second to none. He made people laugh and found joy in most situations. His passing has left an emptiness in many. He will be sorely missed.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Loyal Stone and Doris Pombrio Stone, his first wife, Patricia Favro Stone, a son, Donald, and grandsons Daniel and Dustin.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Herne of Milledgeville, Ga., two sons, Michael Stone (Cheryl) of Ashville, N.C., and Dean Stone of Swoyersville, Pa., two daughters, Marcy Glode (Jerry) of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Darlene Hawkins (Jerry) of Ashley, Pa., three stepchildren, Eric Rotter of Tucson, Ariz., Mark Rotter of Chandler, Ariz., and Craig Rotter of Macon, Ga., two brothers, Wayne Stone and Mark Stone, both of Chazy, N.Y., and two sisters, Marilyn Trombley of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Susan Fredricks of Jeffersonville, Vt., 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dan was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
