Daniel James "Danny/Vern" Keefe, 54, of Miller Street, Plattsburgh, died Monday, July 10, 2017 at his residence.
He was born in Plattsburgh, Sept. 24, 1962, the beloved youngest son of Mary E. (Woodward) Keefe Roach and the late, John D. Keefe. Dan was predeceased by his stepfather, John F. Roach, with whom he shared a special bond. Dan grew up in Peru and graduated from Peru High School in 1981.
Dan loved to be outdoors. He worked at Burrell Orchards for several years before making his career at Brunell Asphalt. He was an avid Giants fan. He loved to fish and was a member of the Doorey-Keefe hunting club, which was actually known to occasionally hunt!
Dan was very proud of his Irish heritage. A kind and gentle man, Dan enjoyed reading and was extremely knowledgeable on many subjects. Shy and quiet at first, if he "let you in", you were his friend for life! Dan hosted "Friendsgiving's" celebrations for more than 20 years. He was always thinking of others. Dan was devoted son, father, brother and uncle. He will be greatly missed!
Left to cherish the memory of Dan are, his mother, Mary Roach of Peru; his son, Timmothy; siblings, Patrick (Nancy) Keefe of Queensbury, Kevin Keefe of Plattsburgh, Doreen (Bruce) Cornell of Washington, Vt., Donna (Don) Dick of Barre, Vt., Eileen (Timbal Stanley) Roach of Cape Coral, Fla., Kathleen (Rebecca) Roach of Peru, Jim Roach of Miami, Fla., John Roach Jr. of Vermontville, Molly (Chris) LaMountain of Keeseville and Sean (Liza) Bedard of Morrisonville. He was the cherished uncle to Lizzy, Christina, Aidan, Regan, Emma, Kaylee, Scott, Annika, Alex and Noah; and great-uncle to Zachary. He also leaves behind his aunts and uncle, Donna Woodward Merlow, Ellie Douglas, Peg Keefe and the Rev. Daniel T. Keefe; and his daughters of the heart, Linda Barcomb Davis and Christa Barcomb Davison.
The family wishes to acknowledge the outstanding love and care he received from lifetime friend and childhood neighbor, Cindy Doorey Zeglis.
