Charles "Charlie" Rivers, 79, of Spellman Road, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the CVPH Medical Center.
He was born in Ingraham on May 12, 1937, the son of Frank and Florence (Pickle) Rivers.
Charlie married the former Elizabeth Baker on Jan. 15, 1977, at the Church of the Nazarene in Plattsburgh. He worked for Lee's Kitchen Carpet and Appliance in Plattsburgh for over 33 years as an installer and salesman for floor covering.
Charlie enjoyed being outdoors and loved to go camping. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with friends and family and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed going for rides in his truck on sunny days and also helping others in any way he could.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Rivers of Plattsburgh; one son, Charles Rivers Jr. and his wife Linda of Saranac; one daughter, Lisa Ann Grenton of Plattsburgh; two grandchildren, Tyler and Savanna Rivers; one brother, Ernest Rivers and his wife Inge; two sisters, William Dupree and his wife Eleanor and Lois Baker; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 7, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Nazarene in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Ingraham Cemetery in Chazy.
Donations in his memory may be made to The Church of the Nazarene or to the Beekmantown Fire Department.
