It was a sunny day with hopes of a better tomorrow when Beverly M. Gebo, 85, of the Lyons Road, Plattsburgh, got the call home.
Beverly was born in West Staten, Ore., May 30, 1932, to Clarence and Helen (Gardner) Risteen.
She was married to Philip A. Gebo for 53 years; together they had five children: Donna J. Dean and husband Jimmy of Las Vegas, Randal Gebo of Vermont, Tamara Thomas and husband Michael from the back yard, Philip R. Gebo and wife Karla of Las Vegas, and Tricia K. Gebo and companion Karen Hernadez of Massena, N.Y.; also, Vance and Tammy Plamer of Waterlook, N.Y., and Michael and Laura Sroka of South Carolina.
Bev and Tami were seen regularly at the area bingos and enjoyed their trips to the casino. She loved her trips to Vegas to visit her family there.
Bev was a volunteer at the OLV Thrift Shop for many years. Bev and Philip were foster parents to 42 foster children and remained in contact with many.
Left to cherish the memory of Beverly along with her five children are, one brother, Whitey Risteen and wife Darlene; a special sister-in-law, Terrie Risteen and her children; and many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she joins her husband who passed five years ago, and a younger brother, Robin Risteen.
Bev was many things to many people but most of all she was a great lady who will be missed.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
