Alfreda R. Bushey, 86, of State Route 22 in Plattsburgh, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 at her home. She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. on March 24, 1931.
Alfreda grew up in Plattsburgh and married Harry Bushey at St. Peter's Church on Feb. 24, 1948. Alfreda and Harry began Bushey's New and Used Furniture in 1960 on State Route 22 in Beekmantown. Alfreda spent her life raising her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, while living right next to the furniture store where she could keep an eye on everything.
She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh and will always be remembered for her nickname Begonia, her infectious laugh and smile.
Alfreda was predeceased by her parents; her husband; and brother, Patrick Ducatte.
She is survived by her two sons, Richard Bushey and his wife Hilary of Plattsburgh and Randy Bushey and his companion Michele Boyea of Plattsburgh; seven grandchildren, Hope Giroux and husband Anthony, Michelle Dupell and husband Adam, Chelsey Bushey and her companion Becca Nichols, Stephanie Bushey and her companion Morgan Ashline, Joshua Bushey and his fiance Makalyn Ross, Maranda Bushey and Zachary Bushey; four great-grandchildren, Isidore Giroux, Lillian Giroux, Hailey Dupell and Flynn Dupell.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, with the burial to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
