William H Tedford
Born Nov. 12, 1925, in Orange, Mass., he was the son of William and Mildred (O'Connell) Tedford. He grew up in Orange and in Schenectady, N.Y.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He married Eileen O'Brien June 1, 1946, at St. Margaret's Church in Wilmington, N.Y. Bill and Eileen were married for seventy-two years. She predeceased him on June 26, 2018. They lived together in their home in Au Sable Forks until March of this year. He was a member of Holy Name Parish.
As a young man, Bill trained and worked at American Locomotive in Schenectady. He was retired from Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 773. For many years prior to his retirement, he commuted to International Paper in Ticonderoga, where he was the piping foreman.
After retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife and keeping busy with projects at his home. He installed heating systems for all of his children in their homes and was known for his meticulous work. Bill was a blue-eyed Irishman with a good sense of humor. His fondest memories of his childhood were helping his grandfather with his boating business on the river in Orange, Mass. He was a lover of music, animals and automobiles and a New England Patriots fan. Bill was part of a generation that valued a hand shake and a face to face interaction. He enjoyed visiting the post office and drug store in Au Sable Forks and conversing with friends. He was proud of his big family and enjoyed gathering with them at his home.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Eileen, two sisters: Catherine Bullis and Helen Gray; two sisters-in-law: Catherine Dillon and Winifred Mousseau and four brothers-in-law: Thomas, John and Harold (Hugh) O'Brien and Warren Bullis.
