William (Bill) P. Boyea, 64, of Chateaugay passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born Aug. 5, 1953 in Malone, N.Y., to Henry and Lavina Patenaude Boyea.
Bill graduated from Chateaugay Central School in 1971 and from Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica in 1973 with an Art related degree. Bill was employed by North Franklin Federal Credit Union for many years and also worked at the Community Bowling Center. In keeping with Bill's artistic talents, he worked as an Art Assistant for several years at Chateaugay Central School.
As an active member of his community, Bill was involved with St. Patrick's Church, the Chateaugay Historical Society and worked on the Chateaugay Revitalization Committee Calendar from 2003 to the present. His work on school composites is proudly displayed in the halls of CCS.
Bill had many interests and talents. His art work, woodcrafts and signs were known throughout the area. He was an extremely talented gardener and took great pride in his flowers. His talent in woodcraft was evidenced in the intricacy of his birdhouses and Christmas houses that were often displayed outside his home. Holiday decorations were favorites of Bill, particularly his Halloween crafts.
Bill's greatest talent was that of a loving, kind and patient caregiver to his mother who, because of Bill has lived to 100. His many nieces and nephews adored their Uncle Bill. His giving nature is seen in the many handmade gifts that are cherished by those nieces and nephews. As a brother, Bill was beyond compare and will be greatly missed by his siblings.
He is survived by his mother, Lavina Patenaude Boyea of Chateaugay. Also surviving are six siblings; Jack and Peg Boyea, Leo and Irma Boyea, Joyce Boyea, Helen and Gerald Ryan, Betty and Tom Cook and Ron and Helen Boyea, all of Chateaugay. Bill was predeceased by his father, Henry Boyea.
There will be a receiving line at St. Patrick's Church in Chateaugay beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 18 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chateaugay.
A reception will be held at the American Legion following the services.
