Uyless C. Burl, 89, of Truman Avenue, passed away Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at the UVM Health Network-CVPH with family by his side. He was born in Altona on July 24, 1928, the son of the late Gilbert and Gladys (Premo) Burl.
Uyless served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army for 14 years. He later was employed by Ratigan Motors and Plattsburgh Motor Service. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 125 and worked for the Nutrition Site at Beekman Towers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and racing.
He is survived by his brothers, Norman Burl and his companion Barbara Caska of Plattsburgh, Robert Shea of Peru, a sister, Shirley Sipos of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Ruth Anne (Chan) Burl, his parents, his brothers, Arthur, Donald, Robert and Ernest Burl and his sisters, Pearl Kowalski and Maude Daniels.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Holy Angels Cemetery in Altona at a later date.
Memorial donations may be offered to the family.
