Ula B. Smith, 94, of the Sears Rd., Ellenburg, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, with her family by her side.
Born on Oct. 9, 1923, in Ellenburg, N.Y., she was the daughter of Eli and Edna (Trombley) LaClair.
She was married to Lawrence Smith on Dec. 29, 1941. They were happily married for 63 years before he predeceased her on Jan. 14, 2005.
Ula owned and operated Brookview Dairy with her husband for many years. She was also employed as a cook at Camp Chateaugay. She was a communicant of St. Edmund's Church and member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Ula enjoyed her pets, gardening, crocheting and quilting but most of all spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved so dearly.
She is survived by five sons and four daughters, Larry and JoAnn Smith of Canandaigua, N.Y., Eli and Donna Smith of Naples, N.Y., Brent and Cathy Smith of Ellenburg Center, Randy Smith and his companion, Celine of Ellenburg Center, Stewart and Sandy Smith of Ellenburg Center, Larraine Smith of Canandaigua, N.Y., Lona Smith of Rushville, N.Y., Dale Ann and Rolland Magoon of Ellenburg Center, Debby Trombley of Ellenburg Center; 36 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; a son, Jeffrey Smith on Sept. 29, 1998; a granddaughter, Lona Magoon and seven brothers.
There are no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, at St. Edmund's Church, Ellenburg.
Spring burial will take place at St. Edmund's Cemetery, Ellenburg.
