Thomas F. "Tom" Shortell, 78, of the Peasleeville Road, Schuyler Falls, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH, Plattsburgh.
He was born in Pittsfield, Mass., March 7, 1938, the son of John and Irene (Stevenson) Shortell.
Tom worked on the family owned farm, ran his Backhoe Business, Shortell & Son, and was a Scraper Operator in Arizona. When he returned to the area, Tom worked for Brunell Asphalt, drove truck for Anchor Motor Freight, followed by Chemical-Leaumon and lastly, Fort Edward Express.
Left to cherish the memory of Tom are his children; son, Richard Shortell; daughter, Kathy Santor and husband Terry; grandchildren, Kevin Shortell, Troy Bushey, and Brittany and Michael Lafave; and great-granddaughter, Bailey Lafave.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Nancy J. Shortell, Nov. 6, 2017; and brothers, John Shortell and James Shortell.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, from 11 to Noon at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will be held at Noon in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William G. Reamer, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Peru.
