Theresa Marie Burdeau Larochelle, 88, formerly of Route 11, Mooers Forks, passed away, Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at her current residence, Birchwood Terrace in Burlington, Vt., with her family by her side. She lived in Mooers Forks all her life until her health declined and she could no longer live by herself. She was a member of St. Ann's parish in Mooers Forks.
She was born in Plattsburgh, June 14, 1929, the daughter of Benjamin Nephew Sr., and Philomena "Flanda" (Peete) Nephew. She was the wife of the late Elden "Bud" Burdeau who died in March of 1966. Theresa worked hard over the years to provide for her two children. She worked as a cafeteria staff member of Mooers Central School, various weddings on the weekends for Peck Sample, and lastly at Delagar, Division of Belcam in Rouses Point.
Theresa loved listening to country music and singing along to her favorite country classics. Her favorite pastime was visiting relatives, camping and spending time with her family.
Left to cherish the memory of Theresa are her children, Gary (Robin) Burdeau and Gail (Bill) Anctil; grandchildren, Casey Burdeau and companion Julie Simpson, Chris Anctil and his wife Ashley, Julie (Burdeau) Santana and her husband John, and Jennifer (Anctil) Kowalowski and her husband Mike; great-grandchildren, Curtis Bosley, Maya Santana, Kenadie and Khloe Kowalowski; sister-in-law, Muriel Burdeau; three special nieces who went above and beyond for Theresa over the years, Marion (Lavalley) Dragoon, Kelly Dragoon, and Lynn (Stone) Nephew; two nieces that were very compassionate and helpful to the family during Theresa's final days, Missey (Stone) Monette, and Kayla Monette; and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Elden (Bud), and her parents, Theresa was predeceased by one child, Sandra Ann Burdeau; four brothers Ben (Helen) Nephew, Alex (Irene) Nephew, Robert (Helena) Nephew, and Arthur (June) Nephew; seven sisters, Nellie (Pete) Burdo, Margaret (Zepher) LaValley, Marie (Amos) LaValley, Rose (Alex) Garrand, Rita (Francis) Miller, Bertha (Walter) Trombley and Irene (Harold) McComb; two siblings who died at birth; parents-in-law, Philbert and Pearl (Lagoy) Burdeau; and siblings-in-law, Harold and Lorraine Burdeau, Arnold and Pearl Burdeau, Shirley and Larry Carter, and Meredith and Dan Moore.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 9, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Theresa's family would like to thank the staff at Birchwood Terrace in Burlington for the incredible care they provided her throughout the years. Even though she always wanted to return home, they were compassionate and caring, and for that her family are truly grateful.
