Stanley P. Russell Sr, 72, of Ellenburg Center, died Tuesday, Sept. 05, 2017 at his home.
Born on June 11, 1945 in Malone, N.Y., he was the son of Wallace and Cecelia (Patno) Russell.
He married Mary Anne Remillard on Nov. 13, 1971 at Notre Dame Church in Malone, N.Y.
He graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone and he worked for most of his life as a farmer on Rustanne Farms in Ellenburg, retiring in 2003. He was well known for grooming cattle and was eager to help anyone. He worked for Lawrence Live Stock in Malone for many years and was a collector of antique Allis-Chalmers tractors. He was a member of the Ellenburg Center Fire Department and a current member of Clinton County Fire Police and he served as their chaplain.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Anne Russell; a son, Stanley P Russell Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Tori Russell; a sister, Faith Dufrane; and a brother, James Russell and his wife Laverne.
He is predeceased by his parents; a brother-in-law, Ted Dufrane; and sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Russell and Sandy Russell.
Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Edmunds Church in Ellenburg.
A reception will be held at the Ellenburg Center Fire Station following Mass.
