Shirley A. Smith, 74, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2018, at ECH in Elizabethtown.
She was born on July 19, 1943, in Wilmington, N.Y., the daughter of Melvin and Blanche (Bowen) Peck. Shirley was a stay-at-home mom who also handled all the book work for her husband's logging business, James C. Smith Logging. She enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family and camping, and she also enjoyed watching the birds. Shirley loved her beloved granddaughter Gracelyn who gave her much joy, and her dog, Roo Roo, that was always by her side. She is predeceased by her husband, her father and mother, her two brothers, and three sisters.
Shirley is survived by her son, Clifford Smith and his fiancee Ziferina Hare, her granddaughter, Gracelyn, her sister, Nancy Cornick, her sister, Pie and husband Timothy Devins, one brother, Harold Peck and wife Marilyn; also a special niece, Tanya Stevens and husband Glen and their children, Seth and Samantha.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday with funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the North Jay Cemetery in Ausable Forks.
