Sharon A. Welch, 73, of Scott Lane, Keeseville, died Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Plattsburgh, Oct. 21, 1945, the daughter of Fred and Helen (Martin) LaFountain. Sharon was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. When her children were grown and moved on with their lives, she picked and packed apples locally.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and gambling and especially loved traveling with the love of her life, best friend and husband, Howard. Sharon was one of the strongest, selfless, caring and loving women you would ever meet. She was deeply loved and will be forever missed by her family.
Left to cherish the memory of Sharon are, her husband of 56 years, Howard W. Welch, who she married Feb. 9, 1963, in St. John's Church in Keeseville; four children, Pamela J. (William) Seaver, April (George Sr.) Mudd, Russell (Stephanie Winner), and Shari Welch; ten grandchildren, Brittany Chasse, Brandy (Byron) Strouse, Shannon Hoffman, Hillary Sprague, George Mudd Jr., Elizabeth Mudd, Faith Mudd, Shane (Destiny) Welch, and Bryan Welch; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Stanley (June) LaFountain.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her eldest granddaughter, Heather Ann "Headie" Blaise, March 28, 2001; and brother, Sherwood "Woody" LaFountain, April 20, 2017.
At Sharon's request there will be no public calling hours or services.
Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
