Ruth M. Snyder, 91, formerly of Smith Street, Dannemora, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018, at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility.
She was born in Churubusco on April 15, 1926, the daughter of Arthur and Nellie (Franklin) Lagree.
She married Bob Snyder on July 2, 1949, in Churubusco, who died Nov. 15, 1976.
Ruth graduated in 1943 from Chateaugay High School and Plattsburgh Business School in 1944. Her first job was in Albany as a secretary for Clinton County State Assemblyman, Leslie Ryan. She then worked for Metropolitan Insurance Company for several years. For 30 years (1979 - 2009) she served as Dannemora Village Justice.
Ruth was a member of the Catholic Daughters Court Mother Admirable 592, Senior Citizens of Dannemora, NYS Magistrates Association.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Bob Zelinski of Dannemora; grandchildren, Neil (Shannon) Zelinski, Jenelle (Jason) Bombard; four great-grandchildren, April, Erin, Kara, and Ryan; several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Bob; her parents; brothers, Bill Lagree, Jack Lagree; sisters, Gladys McMillan, Marjorie Spellman.
A graveside service will be held in the spring in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Dannemora.
Donations may be made to the Dannemora Fire Department or to the Dannemora Free Library.
