With heavy hearts, the family of Rose Marie Cook, 80, of Chateaugay announces her passing on March 1, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Rose Marie Bushey on June 17, 1937, in Ellenburg, N.Y.; she was the daughter of Oscar and Irene (Monette) Bushey.
She graduated from Mooers High School in 1956.
She married Dick Cook on May 9, 1959, at St. George's Church, Burke. He predeceased her on April 9, 1989.
Rose was a wonderful wife and mother. In earlier years, she and her husband ran a dairy farm. Then she worked with her husband, Dick in the family auction business until his death in 1989. She also worked for Star Quality Clothes as well as City Limit Samples in Malone, N.Y. In later years, she worked for the Servants of Jesus and Mary in Constable, N.Y.
Rose enjoyed gardening, coloring, painting ceramics and spoiling her children and grandchildren. Christmas was always Rose's favorite time of year.
She is survived by her four children, Richard Cook and his wife, Brenda of Chateaugay, Tommy Cook of Chateaugay, Wendy Jones and her husband Daniel of Chateaugay and Michelle LaPlante and her husband, Paul of Chateaugay; grandchildren, Jarrod and Kelsey Cook, Marissa, Hannah and Alicia Cook, Brendan and Cullen Jones, Ciara Rose Cook and Reid and Chandler LaPlante; three great-grandchildren, Liam, Quintin and Scout; four sisters, Regina Miller of Plattsburgh, Sally and Paul Crane of Swedesboro, N.J., Elaine Crandall of Louisville, Ohio, and Deborah Fowler of Fulton, N.Y.; three brothers, Roland and Leonard Bushey of Constable, N.Y., and Ronald Bushey of Lyon Mountain; several nieces nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her companion, Richard Moore of Ellenburg.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; a daughter, Terri Lee Cook; five brothers, Morris, Marshall, Roger, Oscar and Armand in infancy and one sister, Mary Jane Lamica.
Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Sunday, March 4, from 5 to 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay, 11 a.m. on Monday, March 5, with Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating.
Entombment will take place at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens.
Donations in her memory may be made to St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay, or Hospice of the North Country.
