Ronald William "Jingles" LaDuke, 80, of River Street, Chateaugay, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at his niece's home under the loving care of his niece, Peggy and her husband, Kyle, family and Hospice of the North Country.
He was born in Swastika on May 14, 1939, the son of Ernest and Leda (Furnia) LaDuke.
Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country from 1957 to 1963. He worked for the NY State Department of Corrections and retired after 30 years going on to serve as staff representative for Council 82 Union. Ron was an active member of the Peru VFW Post 309 and held positions of Chaplin, Surgeon, Commander and Trustee.
One of his greatest joys was playing "Jingles" the elf with Santa Clause entertaining children and parents alike. Ron was an avid reader, especially military and true crime books. He always had a smile, was humorous, and had stories to tell with a wonderful positive outlook on life.
Ron is survived by his children, Leslie Hanson, Daryl LaDuke, Lana DeLorenzo and Ronald LaDuke; Grandchildren, Logan Hanson, Kresta Roy, Keara Hanson, Marrisa DeLorenzo, Jennifer Ball and Patrick Clare; and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, James "Carl" LaDuke and Jessie LaDuke; and sisters, Caroline Golovach, Marilyn Stewart, Phyllis Goddeau and Karen Hathaway.
In addition to his parents Ron was predeceased by three brothers, Edgar, Edward and Chester LaDuke.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Funeral Service will be held in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel at 7 p.m. with Military Honors accorded. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery, AuSable Forks.
Contributions in Ron's memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country, 3909 State Route 11, Malone, NY 12953, who gave such selfless dedication and compassion to him, and North Country Honor Flight, PO Box 2644, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
