Rodney C. Hurley, 90, of Cumberland Head, died June 23rd at the Plattsburgh Rehab and Nursing Center in Plattsburgh. He was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Elizabethtown, the son of Wesley and Josephine (Neumaier) Hurley.
Rod graduated from Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School in 1944. He retired from the NY Telephone Company with 30-plus years of service. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Knights of Columbus, a Charter Member of the North Country Squares and also a past volunteer at the Cumberland Head Fire Dept. Rod was an avid Ham Radio operator, musician, bowler, loved to fish, and was a true die hard Yankee's fan!
He is survived by his four children: Randy Hurley of Plattsburgh, Sherri (Hurley) Flock and husband Bill of Ohio, Greg Hurley and wife Linda (Eddy) of Plattsburgh, and Karin Hurley Pancake and husband Kenny of Florida; a sister, Marcella (Hurley) Denton and her husband Steve of Elizabethtown; three grandchildren: Charles Burdsall of Cuba, N.Y., Wesley Flock of Ohio and Chandler Brinkman of Florida; one great-grandson, Alex Burdsall; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, June 26th, with a service following at 11 a.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
