Robert's Story

Robert A. Seymour, 83, of the O'Neil Road, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at University of Vermont Medical Center.
He was born on July 12, 1934, in Plattsburgh, the son of Wilfred and Jesse (Fountain) Seymour.
Robert was a member of St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. He retired from J.C. Penney after 20 years of service in the maintenance department. Robert enjoyed spending time in outdoors hunting, fishing, and gardening. Robert also enjoyed listening to country music and watching "Westerns." Above all else, Robert had a great love for his family. Nothing brought him greater joy then the memories they shared together.
Survivors include his wife Valedia Seymour of West Chazy; his children Elaine Wells of West Chazy, Peggy Ashline of Dannemora, Alan Seymour and his wife Lisa of West Chazy, and Joan Palmer and her companion Jamie Carter of Orleans, Vt.; nine grandchildren, Kyle (Mia) Gagnier, Kristine Gagnier, Kagen Wells, James (Stacey) Ashline, Valerie Ashline, Alyssa (Tyler) Cook, Alec Seymour, Natasha Vella, and Nate Snyder; a great-granddaughter Cora Cook; a half sister Dawn; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernard Proulx, Doris Cody, Betty Sears and her companion, Joe Laporte, Esterine King, Wilfred and Marion Burdo, Lee Burdo and his companion Terry Hicks; and several nieces and nephews.
Robert is predeceased by his parents, a sister, Pauline Proulx, and two brothers, Ronald Seymour and Aurel Seymour.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Entombment will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Plattsburgh.
