Richard T. "Dick" Lavalley, 77, of Country Lane, Mooers, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2018 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Mooers Forks, July 16, 1940, the son of Andrew and Genevieve (Bosley) Lavalley. He grew up in Mooers Forks. He enlisted in the United States Army and served proudly from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1962.
Dick was a truck driver for more than 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion.
Dick enjoyed carpentry, working with his hands and building things, watching football especially the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots, listening to country music and watching old westerns. His true love in life though, was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish the memory of Dick are, his loving wife, Mary Ann Lavalley; daughter, Ann St. Pierre; grandchildren, Lisa and Steve Kempf, Paul St. Pierre II, Joseph St. Pierre, and Thomas and Hannah St. Pierre; great-grandchildren, Rachel Kempf, and MacKenzie and Emma St. Pierre; sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Roger Blow; sister-in-law, Doris Lavalley; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law, Paul St. Pierre; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Walter and Helen Lavalley, and Ronald Lavalley; and one sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Samuel Trombley.
Calling hours will be held Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, from 5 to 8 pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association.
