CADYVILLE - Richard Lancto, 71, of Rabideau Street, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at the Plattsburgh Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
He was born in Standish, N.Y., on April 6, 1946, the son of Herbert and Irene (Ploof) Lancto.
Richard served as a Radio Relay Communications Officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1965 to 1967.
He married the former Mary Fitzgerald on Sept. 1, 1973, at the Plattsburgh Air Force Base Chapel.
Richard was a Volunteer Firefighter for over 35 years with the Cadyville Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a founding member of the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans.
Richard was an avid NASCAR fan and also enjoyed watching football and hockey games. Above everything else was the love for his grandchildren. They were the twinkle in his eye and Richard cherished every moment he spent with them.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Mary Lancto of Cadyville; his son, Zeke Lancto and his grandchildren Ophelia and Oliver Lancto, all of Plattsburgh; son, Richard "Richie" Noe of Peru, N.Y.; one brother, Roger Lancto; one sister, Carol Dufrane; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Lancto and Gordon Lancto; and two sisters, Gloria LeClair and Veronica "Bonnie" Plummer.
Calling hours will be held on from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 5, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday in St. John's Church in Plattsburgh.
