Raymond Charles Faville, 60, of Grove Street, Rutland, Vt., and Essex, N.Y., died unexpectedly, Monday, July 17, 2017, in Essex.
He was born in Bangalore, India, April 17, 1957, the son of Richard and Corrine Faville. Ray spent his childhood in India before moving to England, his father's home, with his family. He attended college in England and moved to New York City where he met his wife.
Ray, as he was fondly referred, married the former Linda Aughney, July 2, 1983, in Bayville, N.Y. The two opened and operated Lock 12 Marina and the Finch & Chubb Restaurant in Whitehall, N.Y., for 26 years, before opening their current restaurant. For the previous five years Ray and Linda summered in Essex, N.Y., on their boat, and operated Chez Lin & Rays. Together they have made their restaurant a respected and popular location to visit.
Ray enjoyed spending time on his boat, hiking and traveling with his family. He was a talented chef, leading the kitchen at Chez Lin & Ray's every night during the summer season. He always worked with pride, joy, and a sense of humor. He loved to entertain and talk with loyal customers and friends even after a long night of cooking.
Left to cherish the memory of Ray are his loving wife of 34 years, Linda Faville; and two beloved children, Tristan and Stefan Faville.
Raymond was predeceased by his mother, father, and his sister, Heather Goddard.
A public gathering to celebrate Ray's life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, at Chez Lin & Ray's in Essex.
