Peter David Gallagher

Peter Gallagher, 61, of Route 9, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2019.
He was born in Boston, Mass., on Sept. 22, 1957, the son of Robert Gallagher and the former Joanne Kittell.
Pete was currently working as the chef at Pine Harbor Assisted Living in Plattsburgh and loved his loving and caring Pine Harbor family. Pete was also a member of Rotary and will be deeply missed by his Rotary family as well.
Above all else was his love for his family, his little dog Riley, and especially his granddaughters to whom he was affectingly known as "Papa Pete."
Survivors include his loving wife, Julie Gallagher; his father, Robert (Ruth) Gallagher and mother, Joanne Corey; stepchildren, Lindsey and RJ Gilman and Collin and Natasha Nolan; granddaughters, Lucy Gilman and Milo Gilman; brothers, Roger and Martha Gallagher and Chris and Patti Gallagher; and sister Lynn Gallagher. Pete also leaves behind four stepsisters, Anne Corey Atkins, Mary Corey Bourne, Peggy Corey Clapp, and Sharon Corey Sleicher and their families along with several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved stepfather, Dave Corey.
At Pete's request, there will be no public services. Pete would rather you cook a delicious meal, share memories, and make a "toast" to his memory.

My very first contact with Peter was a magical moment. The year was 1967. The place was center ice at the RPI Field House, Troy, NY. “Peter Gallagher meet Blaise Farina,” said the Troy youth hockey official a second or two before he dropped the puck between us. Peter and I were friendly, ten year old opponents facing-off in the opening game of an intramural “atom” division of the Troy youth hockey association. Over the next several years through the mid-70s, we became teammates on Troy all-star hockey teams, and we continually bantered merrily about over how we first met. As it often happens, our interests and pursuits brought us down dissimilar roads. When I recently learned of’s demise, I became saddened, very saddened. Peter leaves us too soon. I remember clearly that Peter as an excellent teammate and a serious competitor, not to mention a cool guy who also happened to be a soft-spoken guy, an intelligent guy, and a genuinely admirable human being. Doubtlessly you will remain in my thoughts, Peter. Peace be with you old friend! My deepest condolences to his family and friends! –Blaise FarinaRead more

My most sincere condolences to the family. May God bring peace and strength to your hearts during this sad time and find comfort in his promise to bring back to life those you love who have fallen asleep in death. 1 Thessalonians 4: 13,14

My deepest sympathy to the Gallagher family! I was so sorry to hear of the sudden loss of Peter. I worked with your Mom and remember going with her to your restaurant in Vermont. She was so proud of you. Later my husband and I visited again, having dinner and staying at the Inn. You made us feel so welcomed Peter! My prayers are with you all! God must have a special place for you among the angels! May you rest in peace! Rita

To Julie and family. Having gone through this myself I know a little about what you're going through. I still deeply mourn the passing of Judy. I remember that you were there for me, and I offer the same to you. Nothing takes away the pain from Peter's passing, but hugs from friends can help a little. I leave it to you to reach out if and when you are ready. In the meantime, please accept my love and my deepest condolences. I have a feeling that Peter and Judy may be hanging out together. They have at least one thing in common. Each of them was the love of someone's life. Big hugs...

Riley was Pete's boy and brought him so much joy! Pete was a kind man and a real animal lover. He was the best pet dad to our Maggie, Riley, Spencer, Lola and Brodi. They don't understand what happened and miss him so.
