Mary E. (Jarrett) Howerton
Mary E. (Jarrett) Howerton, 81, of the Clintonville Road, Peru, passed away, Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Nicholas County, West Virginia, Nov. 7, 1937, the daughter of Floyd and Hester (Deal) Jarrett.
Mary was a seamstress for Trebor Manufacturing in Keeseville. She helped raise all of her grandchildren and cared for many local elderly folks, throughout the years.
She enjoyed sewing, reading, and her four little dogs.
Left to cherish the memory of Mary are, her loving husband of nearly 63 years, Junior Howerton, whom she married May 26, 1956, in Nicholas County, West Virginia; her children, James and his companion, Michelle Smith, Patricia Bordeau and husband, Bruce, Tammy Howerton and life companion Victor Laclair Jr., and Mel Travis and his wife Michelle; six loving grandchildren, Jessica, Amanda, Cheyenne, Trevor, Darcie, and Holly; five great-grandchildren, Gunner, Alexandra, Braydon, Cole, and Julianna; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Eva Amick; sister, Linda England; brother, Roland Jarrett; and daughter-in-law, Christine Pelkey Howerton.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Virginia Pierce, officiating. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the Harkness Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Elmore SPCA, American Heart Association, or the American Kidney Fund.
