Marjorie's Story

Marjorie M. "Marge" Carpenter went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a long courageous battle with Parkinsons Disease. She was born in Plattsburgh on May 1, 1933 to Albert and Genevieve "June" (Ashline) Provost.
Marge married her high school sweetheart Lawrence W Carpenter on August 17, 1953, at St. Johns Church in Plattsburgh. She worked at The Plattsburgh Housing Authority as commissioner for 26 years from 1979-2005. She and Larry worked together owning and operating the L & M Motel and Restaurant as well as the L & M Discount Liquor Store, Super 8 Hotel, 4 Seasons Plaza and Econo Lodge Inn & Suites in Plattsburgh as well as in Florida, Albany and Watertown. Marge loved golfing here as well as her home in Naples Florida. She also enjoyed boating, skiing, and bowling but most of all she loved being a loving mother and grandmother.
Marge is survived by her husband of 64 years Larry Carpenter of Plattsburgh; her children, Steven and wife Carol of Plattsburgh, Lawrence J. and his wife Lori of Schenectady, Tammy Duquette of Plattsburgh, Scott and his wife Jody of Morrisonville; her grandchildren, Amanda and husband David, Megan and husband Jonathan, Kelsey, Katelyn, David, Cory, Sarah, Ashley and Mackenzie; her great- grandchildren, Giana, Evanligina, Chase and Zaiden; her brothers, Phil and wife Edey Provost of Las Vegas, Tom Provost of Plattsburgh; a sister, Deanna O'Connell of Cadyville; a step sister, Bonnie Emore Ross of Canandaigua, N.Y.; a step brother, Danny and his wife Wanda Crannell of Oregon and sisters-in-law; Irene Fortin and Connie Ero both of Plattsburgh.
She was predeceased by her parents Albert and Genevieve Provost; her step father, Cecil ( Vern) Gibbs; her brother, Albert (Sonny) Provost of Las Vegas; her in-laws, Clarence and Dorothy Carpenter, George and Liz Carpenter, John and Rita Carpenter, Richard and Betty Carpenter, Henry Fortin, Roger O'Connell, Paul Ero of Ellenburg; and son-in-law, Daniel Duquette.
A special thanks to Respite Volunteer Pat Zimmernann and Cathy "Bootsie" Latinville, Hospice and all the nurses at North Country Home Services and the Doctors and all the staff at Meadowbrook Healthcare.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday April 19, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Friends wishing may make donations to Hospice of the North Country or St. Peter's Church.
