Lorraine N. "Grama Owl" Spoor, 83, of the Emery Road in Mooers Forks, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at her home, under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country.
She was born in Brasher, N.Y., on June 17, 1934, the daughter of Willis and Pearl (Rubadu) Barney.
Grama Owl absolutely loved to dance and the Country Legend Ernest Tubb was her idol. In the pouring rain, Grama Owl was invited up on the stage of Ernest Tubb where he sat her on his lap while he sang Walkin' The Floor Over You at the Indian Ranch in Webster, Mass., sending her back to her seat, Mr. Tubb kissed her cheek at the end of his song.
Most of all (with maybe one exception given to a hot cup of tea and a cigarett) she loved and cherished her family - children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and always, her very best friend and sister, partner in crime, Judy Rubadu of Brasher Iron Works.
Left to cherish her memory is her children; sons, William, Robert, Danny, Ricky, and Randy; daughters, Kendra Hoey Spoor, and Cindy Lamb, Amyjo Spoor (granddaughter/daughter); sons-in-law, Kenneth Hoey, and Peter Lamb, Sr.; sister, Judy; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren (including two great granddaughters, Aleyah and Arya Lamb, that lived with her, giving very special care to their grandma owl); nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, Sgt. Kendall H. Spoor of the US Army; and, five brothers.
At Grama Owls' request, services will be private and scheduled at the convenience of her family.
