Lois's Story

Lois Gebo Phillips, 88, of 3 Phillips Avenue, Rouses Point, died Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Plattsburgh, Oct. 22, 1928, the daughter of Louis and Julia (Remillard) Gebo. She grew up in town and graduated from Rouses Point High School. She was valedictorian of her graduating class. She later attended business college in Burlington, Vt.
Lois married J Howard Phillips on April 2, 1950, in St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point, N.Y. He predeceased her on Aug. 11, 1980. She was also predeceased by sons, Barry R. Phillips on June 30, 1977, and Patrick H. Phillips on April 17, 2006. Also predeceasing her were two sisters, Lucille G. Amour and Loretta G. Furman.
She started her working career at Ayerst, McKenna and Harrison in Rouses Point, N.Y. Starting in 1965 and retiring in 1988, she worked for the NYS Police in Plattsburgh, N.Y.
Lois was a lifelong, devoted member of St. Patrick's Church, serving on the Parish Council for a number of years.
She enjoyed her family of six loving sons, daughters-in-law, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, who fondly referred to her as Mimi. She enjoyed reading, walking, cross-stitch, and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Left to cherish the memory of Lois are, her children, Michael J., his daughter Renee, daughter-in-law, Sandra and her children Bradley and his companion Erin Wiltshire, and Andrew, Dennis H. and wife Barbara, their children, Brittany and companion Jason McLeod and Matthew and his companion Jenna Deso, Daniel M and partner Deidrie Soucia, and his children Laura and husband Shawn Nutt and their children Rielyn and Raya, Leslie and her husband Jason Coulombe and their children Joel and Luke, Greg A and his wife Kelly and their daughter Chloe and her companion Mitchell Rowe. She is also survived a brother, Robert Gebo and his wife Norma, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
