Lionel J. Ashline, 88, of Grove Street, Keeseville, died Sunday, June 25, 2017, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Champlain, July 31, 1928, the son of Floyd and Irene (Barriere) Ashline. Lionel served in the U.S. Army from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1947. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Ashline, April 19, 1952 at St. Augustine's Church in Peru. She passed Dec. 22, 2009.
Lionel worked for Grand Union for 40 years prior to retiring in 1992. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed both traditional and ice fishing.
Left to cherish the memory of Lionel are, his five children, Mike Ashline and his wife Valerie of Maryland, Randy Ashline and his wife Terry of Keeseville, Michele Zalasky and Raymond Murphy of AuSable Forks, Timothy Ashline and his wife Shirley of Keeseville, and Scott Ashline and his wife Sue of Clintonville; grandchildren, Sean and Raquel Ashline, Christina Bushey and Dave Waldron, Austin and Zulaykha Ashline, Lindsey and Ryan Campagna, Jody and Samantha Ashline, Steven Ashline and Gillian, Josh and Kassie Ashline, and Jacob Ashline; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Kenneth, Mica, Trevor, Brent, Layton, Chandler, Jayden, Gianna, Kayla, and Harley; brothers, Richard and Marie Ashline of Chazy, and Jerry and Isabel Ashline of Mooers Forks; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his grandson, Travis Ashline; and brother, Rudolph.
Relatives and friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. Committal prayers, military honors, and burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville.
