Lena Matott

November 02, 1928 - November 29, 2018

Lena Matott After a long and fulfilling life, Lena M. Matott, formerly of Rouses Point, peacefully passed away at Meadowbrook Healthcare on Nov. 29, 2018, with her family by her side.
Lena was born at home in Champlain, N.Y., on Nov. 2, 1928, to Clarence and Lorraine Ashline. She graduated from Rouses Point High School and soon after began her career of 43+ years at Ayerst Laboratories in 1946. On May 27, 1950, Lena married Marcel Matott of Champlain. They shared 27 happy years of marriage before Marcel passed away on Nov. 13, 1977. Lena was a faithful parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Her hobbies included tending to her flower garden, creating beautiful cut-flower arrangements, traveling and shopping. She also loved scratch-off lottery tickets and enjoyed an occasional Beefeater and cranberry! Above all, she treasured time spent with her family. Her quick wit and lively spirit will surely be missed.
Lena is survived by her daughter, Donna Rushford of Champlain; granddaughter, Terrie Fleming and her husband, Josh Fleming of Morrisonville; grandson, Chad Dutil and his wife, Nicole Mero-Dutil of West Chazy. She is also survived by her two great-grandchildren, Anna Dutil and Declan Fleming. She leaves behind two sisters and her brothers-in-law, Lorena and Jeff Lees of Bryn Mower, Pa., and Lucy and Bob Goddeau of Rouses Point; her brother and sister-in-law, Clarence Jr. and Sarah Ashline of Champlain; sisters-in-law Loretta Ashline of Champlain; Shirley Brothers and Isabelle Matott, both of Plattsburgh; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Joseph and Shirley Matott of West Chazy; along with several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Lorraine, her in-laws, Harvey and Helen Matott, her husband Marcel, brothers Roy Ashline, Charles Ashline; sister Grace Hamel; brothers-in-law Francis Dumas, Ernest Hamel, Orville Brothers, Charles Matott, Henry Matott and William Corcoran; sisters-in-law Shirley Matott (Albany), Lilian Corcoran; son-in-law Richard Rushford; and great-grandson Rowan Fleming.
At Lena's request there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Champlain, N.Y. (Coopersville). Burial will take place in the spring at St. Mary's Cemetery on Prospect Street, Champlain.
